Publications for grassroot organisations

We have prepared five publications that are intended for grassroot organisations. They deal with the topics that we addressed during the project.

The aim in preparing them was not to provide an exhaustive amount of information on each topic, but rather to provide a basic overview and to place them in the context of emancipatory struggles and grassroots organising. We have drawn on the needs and experiences of the Union of Roma Maternity Centres and the discussions during a series of workshops we have jointly organised. The cross-cutting themes in the preparation of all publications were the struggle against discrimination, gender equality and the development of democracy. They are primarily intended for people who are new to activism or people who have themselves experienced discrimination, gender-based violence, etc.

All publications are available in Slovak language only.

The topic of discrimination itself is dealt with in the publication What is Discrimination? You will find basic definitions, examples of different forms of discrimination and a list of institutions you can contact for help.

The publication Let's Help Each Other provides information on the solidarity economy and its role in emancipatory struggles. You will find basic definitions, examples of good practice and guidance on how to start your own solidarity initiative or enterprise.

In the publication Violence against women affects us all, we addressed the issue of gender equality and gender-based violence. You will find information on how to understand the term gender, which is systematically misinterpreted by various authoritarian initiatives, and information on what gender-based violence is all about. In the final section, you will find contacts for organisations you can contact when facing domestic violence.

In another publication, Soft Skills and Emancipatory Movements, you will find information that can help your initiative or organization improve internal processes, communication, or decision-making. It offers guidance on how to improve the flow of work meetings and relationships in organizations.

The last of the publications, Politics in Everyday Life, addresses the question of what is politics, what is the place of civil society in the political sphere, and what activities threaten democracy and damage the credibility of civil society organisations.
